Book Review: "Friendshit"

 

Just the everyday life of Kana, a super lazy girl who doesn't want to do anything because it's a hassle.

The daily life of Arlan, the overly diligent guy who wants to do all the things that Kana considers a hassle.

Also the people around them, who don't believe and are often annoyed because Arlan and Kana are insensitive to their feelings.

Friendship or FRIENDSHIT?!!!

Kintan looked at Arlan pleadingly. "Please marry Kana."

"Let's not talk about that now, Mom," Kana spoke hoarsely. Her dim eyes watered. "Arlan already has a girlfriend from three days ago."

"ASTAGFIRULLAH!!!"

"But today they broke up."

Review

Friendshit by Queen Nakey. This is the first novel I own. I originally read this novel from the Wattpad app. This novel is a romance-comedy genre. But, the comedy is bigger than the love story. I was interested in buying this novel because the story was so funny that I couldn't stop laughing.

Do you know why the title is friendshit instead of friendship? Well, that's because the characters in this novel have unique behaviors and make readers annoyed.

Kana, the main character, is a very lazy person. She loves donuts. If others say, live to eat. Kana lives for donuts. She has a best friend named Arlan. Arlan is a very diligent person. In contrast to Kana who is lazy. So they both complement and depend on each other. Kana can't do anything without Arlan. And Arlan's life would be very boring without Kana. 

Kana's absurd behavior often made Arlan shake his head. One day Kana did all the homework. But afterward, she had a fever for three days straight. And again, all the homework was done by Arlan. Because of their closeness, friends around them thought they were dating. But, when asked, they both simultaneously replied that they were just friends. This made her friends feel annoyed. You want to say friend, but not a friend. You want to say boyfriend, but not girlfriend. Arlan once had a girlfriend. But it didn't last long. The longest Arlan dated was only 2 weeks and he dumped his girlfriend. The reason Arlan broke up with his exes was because of Kana. That was the thing that made their friends feel very annoyed with their relationship.

Pros of

1. Relatable and Entertaining

The story features everyday problems that are often experienced by teenagers, so that readers feel connected to the characters. Light humor is the main attraction of this novel.

2. Lively Characters

Each character in the story has its own uniqueness that makes them feel real. Queen Nakey also manages to show significant character development throughout the story.

3. Casual Language Style

The author uses slang that is familiar to teenagers, making the reader feel close to the story.

Disadvantages

1. Rushed Conflict Resolution

Some parts of the story, especially towards the end, feel a little rushed so that there are elements that are less explored.

2. Tends to be Clichéd

Although entertaining, some of the storylines may feel clichéd to readers who have often read stories about teenage friendship and love.

Conclusion

"Friendshit" is a light-hearted novel suitable for readers looking for entertainment. With fresh humor and relatable themes, this novel is able to create a pleasant reading experience, although some parts of the story can still be developed more deeply.
